Experienced veterinary technician for growing, modern AAHA accredited animal hospital in Wesley Chapel, NC. State of the art medicine with intimate, family atmosphere. The hospital is a fast paced environment and candidate must have a minimum of two years experience as a veterinary technician in an animal hospital. Position Summary: Primarily responsible for providing effective assistance to veterinarians in all aspects of patient care and client service by utilizing excellent, in-depth knowledge of animal medical care and company products and servicesQualifications Required: •High School diploma or its equivalent•Two years proficiency in veterinary hospital environment•Licensed Veterinary TechnicianEssential Functions and Responsibilities: •Greet clients, obtain vital statistics from patients, obtain historical information and medical background of patients from clients•Effectively communicate treatment plan, preventative services recommended, products offered, and cost of said services and products to clients•Effectively restrain animals for veterinarians to examine and perform procedures•Obtain blood, stool, urine and bodily excretions from patients and demonstrate proper handling of specimens•Cleaning up and Disposal of animal eliminations and animal remains•Administration of oral and injectable medications•Effectively utilize in house laboratory equipment •Monitoring patients under anesthesia, IV catheter placement, sterile surgical prep•Appropriately filling prescription and over the counter medications•Obtaining properly positioned radiographs, dental radiographs, and performing dental prophylaxis•Extensive cleaning of hospital and equipment demonstrating appropriate disinfecting techniques•Answering telephones, scheduling appointments, and answering basic medical questions•Checking out clients, reviewing invoices with clients and obtaining payment for services•Performing end of day transactions•Bathing animals and performing simple grooming procedures including but not limited to nail trims, anal gland expression, sanitary clips, and lion cuts•Inputting services provided and products obtained into invoices•Proper handling, cleaning and maintenance of hospital equipment including but not limited to surgical instrumentsNonessential Functions and Responsibilities•Computer proficiency with Microsoft word and excel•Perform other related duties as assignedSuccess Factors/Job Competencies•Strong Team Player•Time Management- the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities•Customer Satisfaction Focus•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills•Compassionate care of patients
