The Humane Society of Portage County (HSPC) has an opening for a full time Veterinarian in our growing and progressive humane society. Our main focus is on homeless companion animals, the majority of which are cats and dogs. We are looking for a passionate and motivated person to lead our medical department. HSPC is focused on continuous improvement including continuing education opportunities. We seek to provide the best services possible in an effective and efficient manner. Our medical suite has been donor supported and we are proud of what we have been able to upgrade over a short period of time. We have a solid track record of partnering with other animal welfare agencies to provide them with various services including spay/neuter. Our community focused medical programs include vaccination clinics, a low income pilot program and an outdoor cat pilot program.
Provide high quality care while working with a motivated team that includes a CVT
Perform surgeries and treat sick or injured animals
Apply shelter medicine protocols
Maintain positive relationships with our non-profit agency partners
Utilize our information management systems and keep all records current
Partner with our adoption, animal control and shelter care departments to maintain a system of animal flow which helps to reduce average animal length of stay
Must have DVM and be eligible for Wisconsin Veterinary License
Must be highly organized, positive and team focused
Available for occasional weekend clinics
We are located a short drive from The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and the Sentry World Golf Course. The area offers many cultural and community based activities, hiking / biking trails, water based recreational opportunities, excellent restaurants and shopping!
Is to prevent cruelty, abuse, neglect and overpopulation of companion animals while seeking adoption of these animals into compatible homes, and teaching humane awareness and respect for all life, thus helping to build a better community.
