The Humane Rescue Alliance (HRA) is seeking an experienced veterinarian to provide direct medical supervision of third and fourth year veterinary students participating in 3 week rotations at HRA as part of a unique partnership with the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. The focus of this position will be to teach these groups of students fundamental principles of surgery and general practice medicine. This will involve primarily experiential learning, however daily rounds and other forms didactic training will also be a component of the program. Provide medical and surgical care to HRA shelter animals and medical center patients, including providing HQHV sterilization services for shelter and public animals as well as our active community cat program; engage with community through low-cost vaccine clinics; participate in regular population management rounds, and to provide treatment and care to animals in adoption centers. •Current valid license to practice veterinary medicine in the District of Columbia (or willingness to pursue a D.C. license). •Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited college or university. •Minimum three years of experience in general practice veterinary medicine and surgery. •Teaching experience strongly preferred.
