The Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center is searching for an experienced board certified equine surgeon with a focus on sports medicine and imaging. Preference will be given to applicants who are also board certified by the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. This is a full time position including emergency duty. The ideal candidate is highly motivated with an interest in developing a strong rapport with referring veterinarians, owners, managers and trainers.
The Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center is nestled in the historic Delaware River Valley, one hour from New York and Philadelphia. The caseload is comprised of performance horses, Standardbred and Thoroughbred racehorses and pleasure horses. We serve as a referral center for the tri-state area, providing elective and 24 hour emergency surgical and medical care. Our facility was recently expanded to include a second state of the art surgical suite, exam rooms, 16 stall barn and a 4 stall stand alone isolation unit. Further expansion is planned. Our veterinary staff is comprised of individuals board certified in surgery, medicine, ophthalmology and cardiology. In addition MAEMC has an experienced field service staff that provides routine and emergency care. Six interns also rotate through the various departments annually.
Our diagnostic capabilities include: MRI, 4DDi robotic computed tomography, nuclear scintigraphy, digital radiography, digital ultrasonography, gastroscopy, endoscopy, dynamic endoscopy and a full complement of laboratory diagnostics. Future directions include implementation of computerized ultrasonography and intra-operative fluoroscopy.
Sports medicine and rehabilitation specific capacities include shockwave therapy, stem cell therapy, ProStride, mulitiple forms of PrP and IRAP, and a Game Ready system. The hospital is willing to invest in additional equipment under the dedicated guidance and management of the individual filling this position.
Our surgical suites are well equipped with state of the art instrumentation for arthroscopy (Stryker), fracture repair (DePuy-Synthes and Arthrex, including full LCP set), laparoscopy (including mono-and bi-polar electrocautery), abdominal and upper respiratory surgery. We are also equipped for videoendoscopic surgery, including diode laser and transendoscopic electrocautery.
