Busy mixed animal practice in a small rural town in Southeastern Arizona is looking for a veterinarian who is compassionate and wants to practice veterinary medicine the way it used to be with a lot of added tools to help you. Think of James Herriot meets Idexx blood machines, digital radiology, ultrasound, stem cell, cold laser, and other fun tools that help you excel at the art of veterinary medicine allowing you to not only help the animal under your hands but to comfort the owner across the table who loves the animal you are holding with greater information and ability to help their pet.
We are located in the center of our micropolitan area, which means we have a Super Walmart and some grocery stores and other small businesses that are friendly and small town oriented! Most everything in town can be reached in about 5 -10 minutes with little to no traffic. We are 2 hours away from the nearest large city so if you need an invigorating nightlife, this is not the town for you. There is a very low violent crime rate and it is a great small town for raising a family with good schools and a supportive community.
We are building an equine barn with hopes of being able to fulfill a large need for equine reproduction services in our area. We have great ranch clients as well and room for expansion in this area. We have a full service vet truck with brand new super sophisticated digital wireless x-ray and super cool ultrasound and an endoscope that our owner doesn't know how to use.
We are a family oriented practice! There is a great possibility to be able to accommodate a husband and wife team with the expansion of the equine side of the practice.
If you have always dreamed of practicing truly rural veterinary medicine, this might be the place for you! If you enjoy working hard and staying busy, this might be the place for you. If you don't need a lot of extra stimulation to entertain you when you are not working, this might be the place for you. If you have young children and would like a small community to raise them in, this might be the place for you. If you are a single parent and need support from a wonderful practice family and small town community, this might be the place for you!
We realize the difficulty in starting out in the veterinary profession after investing and sinking yourself into insurmountable debt to be able to have the opportunity to live out your dream! We will do everything we can to support you in that and help you through it. We will be offering a competitive salary that is based on ones experience. Our benefit package is geared to support you and to take care of all of your professional needs. We want to mentor, we want to help grow, we want to work along side of you all while practicing the art of veterinary medicine together.
Our clients are the very best and we hold to the golden rule for treating everyone as we would like to be treated! Kindness to everyone is our goal and every Friday we go out into our community and hustle kindness to the local businesses and people of our community. This is a big part of who we are and we do not believe that people suck but rather that people are hurting and injured and need compassion just like each of us. Our goal is to help the clients as much as we help their animals! To treat them with respect and kindness instead of judgement and disdain. Without clients we would not have a career or a job!
We believe that animals are one of the greatest gifts ever given to us by God and we do our best to care for them with the resources that we have available and the finances the owner can afford. We are looking for someone(s) who wants to live and practice this way as well. We have lots of toys and tools and great opportunity for expansion and growth and we would love to find someone who desires the small town life to settle down in and stay for awhile.
The associates work week is four days a week and alternating weeks on call. If you think you might want to live in Smallville and practice rural medicine apply now.
