Providing an opportunity to have your skills make a difference in the beautiful coastal community of Virginia Beach, Virginia…
The Virginia Beach SPCA is a non-profit organization that has faithfully served Virginia’s most populous city for over fifty years. With the support of our community, we impact the lives of thousands of animals annually through our public shelter, low-cost medical clinic, humane pet training facility, satellite adoption center, dedicated wildlife room, and mobile surgery unit.
With 11,000 public patients seen last year, we are seeking a full time Associate Veterinarian to become a part of our strong clinic team. This long-term partner will be dedicated to upholding our mission to create a more humane and responsible community by eliminating animal suffering while increasing human compassion.
Under the direction of the Medical Director, the professional selected will be responsible for providing a variety of animal healthcare duties, including:
Performing medical examinations, surgeries, and assisting in the monitoring of the health and welfare of animals in the care of the both the clinic and the shelter.
Performing spays and neuters on our mobile surgery unit, in varied locations, as scheduled.
Providing care to injured wildlife as needed, in accordance to provided training.
Along with a competitive base salary, medical benefits, and a 403(b) retirement plan, our organization offers continuing education opportunities and professional development. Being committed to maintaining a work and life balance, the Virginia Beach SPCA affords its veterinary team a consistent and reasonable work schedule. In addition, we provide generous paid time off, including personal days, sick time, vacation, and holiday pay.
Qualified candidates outside our area may be considered for a working interview on-site, with complimentary travel arrangements (and a good chance to enjoy the world’s longest stretch of pleasure beach).
It is the mission of the Virginia Beach Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (VBSPCA) to create a more humane and responsible community by eliminating animal suffering while increasing human compassion.
