Westover Animal Hospital, located in southwest Georgia, is looking for a full time veterinarian. We are looking for someone who is interested in practicing high quality medicine, while establishing lasting bonds with our clients and their pets. We are a mainly small animal hospital (95%) that sees some pocket pets and exotics (5%: you do not have to see any if you do not want to, or you could take over this subdivision and grow it), along with the occasional Coggins test or horse vaccines for special clients (rare: only do them if you want to). We are located 3 hours from the Atlantic coast, gulf coast, Atlanta and Jacksonville, FL. We believe in a balance between work and personal life. We are the only clinic in southwest Georgia that offers acupuncture and herbal medicine to its clients.
We offer a competitive salary, retirement plans (401K), continuing education stipends, and other benefits.
New graduates are welcome to apply.
The right individual should possess a positive and friendly attitude, a commitment to practicing with competence and diligence, a dedication to compassionate personalized care, and be a team player who can communicate clearly and effectively. They should have the ability to work independently and to collaborate with the other doctors. They should have good communication skills and be able to handle a busy patient load. They should also have a GA license.
We believe our clients deserve a high standard of care for their pets, and to be educated on their pet’s health so that they can make the best informed medical decisions. We have in-house idexx blood machines, an ultrasound, digital x-ray, therapy laser, tono-pen, and a surgical laser. Our practice is a very busy well-established four doctor hospital. We are looking to replace one veterinarian who will be moving in March.
Each doctor has their own scheduled appointments for the day, but room is left in the day to write in charts, have follow up calls, or research cases. Surgery is shared, with doctors being assigned a certain day. Hours are 8:00-6 Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri. 8:00-12 Wed and Sat. Wednesdays are rotated so that you would work every third Wednesday. You would work every other Saturday with one of the other doctors on site. On call and emergency responsibility is shared and paid well.
We are located in the city of Albany, “the Good Life City”, home of Ray Knight, Paula Deen, Nancy Lopez, and the late Ray Charles. Albany is adjacent to Leesburg so that the two cities merge into one. Leesburg/ Lee County is one of the fastest growing cities/counties in Georgia and has fast become a great place to raise a family. Leesburg is home to Phillip Phillips, Luke Bryan, and Buster Posey. Together they boast a symphony, Albany State College, art museum, civic center, Chehaw Zoo, the Marine Corps Logistic Base, various clubs around town, planetarium, and plenty of outdoor activities and shopping. The Flint River flows through town and is home to the Riverfront Trail (a paved trail along the river) and the RiverQuarium (which we provide exclusive veterinary care for). Every year, there is a full and half marathon, and it is ranked as one of the top Boston qualifiers in the country, with almost 20% of all marathon finishers qualifying. The city of Albany also boasts its own airport- Southwest Georgia Regional Airport (ABY)- with daily connecting flights to Atlanta International Airport.
