Assistant or Associate Professor in Large Animal Emergency Surgery and Critical Care

The Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida, invites applications for a clinical-track, full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in Large Animal Emergency Surgery and Critical Care. The successful candidate will be joining a team of 5 ACVS and 5 ACVIM faculty, one of which is also board certified in ACVSMR, as well as a full complement of boarded specialists in ACVAA, ACVO, ACVR, ACVIM-cardiology, and ACVIM-neurology. The hospital caseload is predominantly equine, but includes all large animal species. The primary responsibilities of this position include sharing primary clinical duties for night time and weekend emergencies, strong involvement in resident training, providing clinical instruction to veterinary students, and developing strong relationships with clients and referring veterinarians. Other responsibilities will be commensurate with the appointee’s interest and experience. The position offers exciting opportunities to work in a collaborative environment to develop an excellent emergency and critical care service with state of the art facilities and equipment. Facilities include three fully equipped surgical suites and advanced imaging. The hospital is staffed with veterinary technicians 24 hours a day to assist with emergency admissions and ongoing patient care. Final candidate will be required to provide official transcript to the hiring department upon hire. A transcript will not be considered “official” if a designation of “Issued to Student” is visible. Required qualifications include DVM or equivalent degree and competency in equine and food animal surgery and emergency medicine. The candidate should have excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment with other faculty members, residents and staff. |
