The Colorado Association of Certified Veterinary Technicians (CACVT) is the credentialing entity and professional association for Certified Veterinary Technicians in Colorado. They are looking for a new Executive Director (ED), who will oversee all CACVT operations and assume responsibility to fulfill its mission. The opportunity for the Executive Director will be to focus on association growth, financial stability and supporting existing members through high quality continuing education programming.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) oversees all CACVT operations and assumes responsibility to fulfill its mission. The opportunity for the Executive Director will be to focus on association growth, financial stability and supporting our existing members through high quality continuing education programming.
This relationship-building position will serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization’s mission and vision as well as policy and advocacy for constituents. The Executive Director will be responsible for implementation of the strategic plan, staff management, member retention and growth, and maintain relationships with stakeholders and corporate sponsors for events. Executive Director supports the board of directors’ meetings and committees. Additionally, this position manages communications including member communications, press releases and communications with the press.
Ensure effective leadership and management throughout the organization, promoting a sense of shared purpose.
Oversee day-to-day operations of the CACVT.
Direct all official communications from the CACVT, to its members, and the press.
Prepare annual budget and oversee financial management.
Serve as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors and staff
Manage vendor relationships, negotiate vendor contracts, and sign all vendor contracts for the organization.
Board of Directors Support
Lead Board members and staff in developing, communicating and implementing a strategic plan with established priorities, strategies and measurements of success.
Facilitate and coordinate monthly Board of Director meetings, Annual meeting and committee meetings.
Implement decisions of the Board of Directors.
Serve as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors and Colorado Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) and National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA).
Ensure a high engagement of Board members, working with the board on fiduciary, planning and policy matters.
Help identify and recruit new Board members and provide a quality on-boarding process.
Continuing Education Programming
Develop annual continuing education program calendar and gain approval from the Board of Directors.
Manage all aspects of continuing education programming, such as logistics, vendor relations, communications, volunteer management and sponsorships.
Reinforce and cultivate strategic partnerships and solicit sponsorships from industry contacts to support programming and events.
Membership Strategy and Management
Strategize CACVT member recruitment, retention and engagement activities.
Monitor member engagement and attrition to report to the Board of Directors.
Supervise the Certification and Membership Coordinator to ensure compliance with certification.
Oversee member surveys to assess current CACVT programs, marketing materials, and membership initiatives.
Make recommendations for new campaigns, member benefits and to deepen current member engagement while balancing the needs of long-time members.
Oversee plans for membership growth and engagement by identifying both short-term and long-term strategies and initiatives.
Oversee content for membership initiatives such as brochures, enrollment forms, website and social media updates, while targeting campaigns to different audiences.
Research and benchmark activities other associations are pursuing to grow their member base.
Certification Analytics & Reporting
Evaluate demographics data from membership renewal surveys and utilize statistics for future association efforts.
Work with the Board of Directors and the Certification and Membership Coordinator to identify key performance indicators (KPI’s) to report to all key stakeholders.
Partner with the Certification and Membership Coordinator to identify discrepancies in reporting and help resolve issues.
Monitor all attrition, new application and re-enrollment numbers.
Ensure KPIs outlined as above are being met.
Produce membership reports, such as paid member counts, renewal and retention statistics, selection and management of list needs.

Background in association management, certification management, veterinary industry and/or medical profession, preferred.
Excellent communication skills, and a respectful and collaborative approach to fostering relationships with members, board, staff and industry partners.
