We are looking for an exceptional person to join our Management Team which currently consists of 3 doctor owners, a client services manager, 3 technician team leaders, a part-time practice management consultant, and our HR/operations manager who sadly is leaving us for family reasons.
This gives us an opportunity to re-examine our Management Team and see how we can best organize for the future. Each doctor/owner has picked up some Hospital Administrator duties over the past yet is happy to re-direct time to medical concerns when appropriate.
This leads us to looking for either a Hospital Administrator or a Practice Manager – we are less concerned about titles and more about the individual fit for you and our practice.
Our immediate needs for this new hire:
HR management– we need an excellent, experienced professional adept at recruiting, hiring, training, managing & mentoring people, understanding employment laws, managing benefits & payroll. Can you do this with grace and decorum? Can you be firm yet compassionate in difficult situations? Can you embrace our Wellness Initiative which asks you and each team member to strive to optimize physical and mental health?
Operations management– this person must be competent at handling the day-to-day decisions of running a busy veterinary practice from supervising purchases and inventory to calling in help with computers, equipment or system break down.
Financial acumen– a manager with the computer and finance skills to dive into numbers, monitor key performance metrics, keep accounts receivable in order and make recommendations for ongoing improvement. We have a bookkeeper and metric monitoring in place – your task would be to monitor and make recommendations to help us stay on top of our game. Our practice management system is Cornerstone and you would also need to use Word, Excel and other computer programs.
Our practice is an 8-doctor, small-animal hospital located just north of Portland, Maine. We are an AAHA practice known for outstanding client and patient care. Other general practices in the area refer tough cases to us, and we are happy to assist. We continue to grow and are committed to maintaining high standards of care for clients and team members as we do so.

SALARY: Great benefits and salary based on your experience as well as which responsibilities you take on -- practice manager or hospital administrator tasks. Bonus offer for CVPMs. In addition to the work, we need an individual who can embrace our culture and help make our hospital a great place to work, learn and grow.
Experience in hospital management with a proven track record, good references, great people skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, financial acumen, ability to plan, budget, problem solve, lead, train and mentor others.
