The Department of Pathobiological Sciences at Louisiana State University, School of Veterinary Medicine, invites applications for a 12-month tenure track faculty position in parasitology at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The position involves research, teaching, and diagnostic parasitology service.
Research - Establish an independent, extramurally funded program in basic and applied research using natural and experimental animal models of parasitic diseases, zoonotic parasitic diseases, vector-born parasitic diseases, host immune response to parasitic infections, anthelminthic drug resistance or host resistance/susceptibility to parasitic infections.
Teaching - Instruction in parasitology in the DVM professional curriculum for Year II, III, and IV. Serve as course leader and share instructional duty for the Year II Parasitology course (lectures and laboratory exercises). Shared responsibility for graduate-level parasitology instruction required by the department's graduate degree program.
Diagnostic Parasitology Service - Supervision of the parasitology laboratory at the Louisiana Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (LADDL), providing advice and consultative parasitology service to clients, and developing and validating new parasitology diagnostic assays using contemporary technology.
PhD in Parasitology or other relevant field
*Appointment to the Associate Professor rank will require a demonstrated record of accomplishments, including extramural funding.
DVM (or equivalent) and American College of Veterinary Microbiology (ACVM) Parasitology Board Certified Specific Experience: Excellence in diagnostic parasitology, academic instruction, scholarly activity in the form of publications in refereed journals, collaborative research, and excellent written and interpersonal communication skills are highly desirable.
