A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Cares for the animals used in research and development studies.
Performs duties related to the maintenance of experimental animals such as feeding and caring for animals, cleaning cages, holding animals for treatment by laboratory technician or maintaining inventory and animal identification records.
Performs cleaning/sanitation of animal facility and equipment.
Responsible for bio-safety and bio-security of the animals.
May partner with pre-clinical investigators to assist and support veterinarians with surgery, dosing, post-op care and monitoring of animal studies.
Weekend shift: Thursday, Friday and Monday- 12:00pm- 8:00pm Saturday and Sunday- 6:00am-12:00pm (plus 2 hours on call)
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience and may require vocational or technical education and advanced certification in addition to prior work experience. High School Diploma or GED is required.
Nice to Have:
Veterinary Tech experience
Has some emergency experience
Able to make independent medical decisions
Handle critical care patients and recoveries
Handle pre- and post-op needs with little intervention from a veterinarian
