Avenues Internship - Any experience level considered
Davie County Large Animal Hospital is looking for an Equine Intern to join our fast-paced practice. This internship program provides recent veterinary graduates with the opportunity to gain knowledge and fine tune clinical skills. Our fully equipped, state-of-the-art equine hospital and ambulatory practice exposes interns to an abundant and diverse equine caseload.
This demanding program allows interns to gain experience in a wide variety of veterinary services including equine surgery, anesthesia, sports medicine, reproduction, rehabilitation, acupuncture, chiropractic and podiatry, as well as general healthcare and emergency medicine. Our program serves to sharpen the diagnostic, therapeutic and communication skills of recent graduates.
Interns assist clinicians in the hospital and on ambulatory calls daily. Interns are also responsible for night/weekend care of any hospitalized patients and participate in in-house emergencies with the surgeon on call. After a 60-day training/probation period, the intern may be given primary responsibility over ambulatory calls. Primary ambulatory emergency duty will be shared with our associates.
To further interns’ educational experience, weekly rounds with our surgeon and practice owner are provided. Additionally, one publication (either a case report or retrospective study) must be completed by each intern during the year.
