We are looking for a team-oriented certified veterinary technician (CVT) or highly experienced veterinary assistant to help oversee day to day flow of in-hospital patient care, procedures, treatments and appointments. Experience in surgical monitoring, anesthesia and dental procedures is necessary. Training and comfort using dental radiology is preferred. Extensive skill in phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, medication administration (oral and injectable), animal restraint and Oregon radiation safety certification is required. Comfort with digital medical record keeping is necessary, but experience with Avimark software is preferred. Interest in teaching new team members and help train and grow existing staff is very important for this position. Our goal in this position is to provide a source of continuity for team training, patient care and flow throughout the clinic. The Managing Technician helps oversee all other assistants and technical positions to ensure the consistent quality of care achieved by the staff.
We are a locally owned small animal practice located in beautiful Southern Oregon, close to numerous outdoor activities. We have a 2-3 doctor team and strive to work closely with our clients to provide the best medicine for their beloved pets. Our clinic mostly treats dogs and cats, but occasional small mammals are treated as well, these patients are rabbits and ferrets mostly. Comfort working with these animals is a bonus.
This position directly reports to the Managing Veterinarian. May also report to the Practice Manager.
Oversee, administer, supervise the positions of Exam Room Assistant, Veterinarian Assistant, and Kennel Assistant
Must be able and willing to perform the duties of Exam Room Assistant, Veterinarian Assistant, and Kennel Assistant when needed
Use all available resources to provide the best possible patient care to animals treated/handled by the hospital
Work with the head doctor on making staff schedule
Work with and advise the practice manager on all assistant/tech performance evaluations, hiring, promotions, and terminations
Take lead on training and supporting all other assistant positions in their tasks and responsibilities
Coordinating all other assistant positions to best support veterinarians and patients/clients on a day to day basis
Work with the practice manager and head doctor on managing inventory
Work with and advise the practice manager and the head doctor on ways to improve and enhance the work environment, workflow, policies/procedures and standards of operation for the clinic
Meet regularly with both the practice manager and head doctor to coordinate support of the hospital
Be available by phone on off-hours (within reason) to provide assistance to staff that is at the hospital during clinic business hours
