The ideal candidate will support the full scope of Human Resources responsibilities and partner with the organization on strategic initiatives to enhance the organization's human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating human resources policies, programs, and practices.
This position will be responsible for updating & developing policies, directing and coordinating human resources activities, such as employment, compensation, labor relations, benefits, training, and employee services.
Recruit, interview and hire new nursing staff, support staff, and associate veterinarians.
Responsible for new hire on-boarding procedures in conjunction with local hospital administrators.
Oversee the recruitment process including job postings, resume review, and conducting in-person interviews with the local supervisors.
Manages Paychex/Payroll inquiries via Paychex Payroll/Benefits & other Representatives
Manage personnel training and developmental programs (including safety training)
Complete employee performance reviews along with the overseeing supervisor
Mediate internal disputes between staff and office personnel
Discipline/discharge employees, oversee employee benefit programs, maintain confidential employee records
Create, review, and update job descriptions/manuals
Manage staff continuing education and licensure/certification
Complete daily work assignments or other duties as directed
Performs other duties as assigned.

This job operates in an office setting within a veterinary hospital. Normal vocation environment risks associated in this setting as related to treatment of and exposure to clientele, and health hazards related to disease and specialty care of animals.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
This position will require repetitive, sedentary work/sitting for long periods of time, and may require lifting up to 15 lbs at a time.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday with an introductory period of two months (60 days).
10-25% travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience
An HR manager's responsibilities are varied and wide-ranging. Minimum Experience & Education includes:
Knowledge of principles and procedures for recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation of personnel
Experience working in the veterinary industry preferred
Will consider candidates with human healthcare HR experience
Management principles for strategic planning
Bachelor's degree or relevant experience
3-5+ years' experience in Human Resources
Must have knowledge of Payroll and payroll systems
Strong recruiting and demonstrated ability to improve talent acquisition strategies
Demonstrated expertise training managers and employees
Strong organizational, critical thinking and communications skills
Attention to detail and good judgement
PHR/SPHR Certification Preferred
