Director of Curricular Assessment/Teaching Support/Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor(Open)

The College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University, located in Ames, Iowa, invites applications for Director of Curricular Assessment and Teaching Support and Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor (Tenure Track or Term Appointment). This position will oversee administration of direct and indirect measures of curricular and student outcomes including student surveys, course evaluations, and other college-wide assessments. Additional duties include assisting the college faculty and administration in overall curricular improvements based on current literature, assessment of identified outcomes, and assisting the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and a college-wide team with American Veterinary Medical Association Council on Education (AVMA COE) accreditation reports and data. This position will oversee ongoing faculty development initiatives at the College of Veterinary Medicine including oversight of the New Educators Experience and Training (NEXT) and Investing in Veterinary Educator Skills and Training (inVEST) programs. Additionally, the director will engage in independent and/or collaborative educational research and assist in teaching the Professional Communication Assessment and Learning (PCAL) laboratory (VCS 314) and co-teach a graduate course on fundamental teaching methodologies and principles of learning and assessment (VPTH 530). Under the direction of the Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, a successful candidate will oversee the everyday work of the team of four working in the Office of Curricular Assessment and Teaching Support. This team leads the college in all college-wide curricular assessment and faculty development activities such as the Professional Communication Assessment and Learning (PCAL) experience, the Veterinary Educational Assessment, Clinical Competency Assessment, and OSCE’s.

Required Minimum Qualifications: -PhD or equivalent (e.g., EdD) in education, assessment, or a closely related field or a PhD and a minimum of 5 years related experience Preferred Qualifications: -Experience and/or formal training in assessment, educational measurement and/or program evaluation -Experience and/or formal training in curricular development -Experience and/or formal training in faculty development -Experience and/or formal training in educational research -Experience in a formal accreditation process (especially medically related) |
