This position will primarily receive, stabilize and treat canine and feline emergency and urgent care patients with the assistance of the Emergency and Critical Care Service faculty and residents when needed. It will teach and train professional veterinary students, interns, and technicians in providing small animal emergency and urgent care.

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or foreign equivalent.
Licensed DVM in the state of California (or attain CA license within 6 months from date of hire if currently licensed elsewhere).
Minimum of 5 years' experience in small animal practice.
Interpersonal communication skills to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere.
Teaching experience of professional veterinary students in emergency medicine.
Completion of a small animal rotating or emergency medicine internship.
5 or more years of small animal emergency practice experience.

The Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH) is a unit that provides clinical case material in support of the teaching programs throughout the School of Veterinary Medicine on a 24-hour basis. Its primary objectives are to train professional (veterinary) students, graduate clinical students (interns and residents), and graduate academic students; to provide veterinary services to the public; to serve as a referral center for practicing veterinarians, and to advance veterinary medical knowledge.
