"This is the best group of people I've ever worked with," - Dr. Bohnke
(She's been in the business for 40 years—that's a lot of teams!)
Interested in joining the best group of Dr. Bohnke’s ever worked with? You’re in luck because Cimarron Animal Hospital is looking for an associate DVM!
Our ideal candidate:
- Confident early career veterinarian or an experienced DVM
- Experience with small animals (exotic medicine is a plus)
- Ability to perform dental extractions
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficient at typing (we’re paperless)
- Passion for lifelong learning
- Kitty whisperer (we are Cat Friendly Certified)
As the next Associate DVM at our practice, no two days will look alike, but here’s some common responsibilities we ask of our veterinarian team.
- Partner with clients: We have excellent client compliance, which gives us (and you) the opportunity to do “real” medicine
- Provide a Fear Free experience: Our staff is trained in Fear Free patient handling and offers pre-visit calming kits, sedation (as needed), cuddles, and squeezable cheese as a treat–whatever works best for each pet!
- Bond with the Cimarron team: Work with an enthusiastic, skilled team that likes each other (no drama!!) and embraces new techniques and products! You'll have opportunities to learn from an experienced, yet current, DVM who always has your back and is open to learning too
- Utilize our tools: Our hospital is a full-service practice with digital whole body and dental x-ray, K-laser, ultrasound, extensive in-house laboratory, a fully equipped surgical suite, and more
- Interested in after-hour emergencies? Tucson needs more after-hour locations. If you are a DVM who would like to build and operate your own emergency department overnight, we can make that happen! We're also open to growing our internal medicine and dermatology services
At Cimarron, we understand that life outside of practice is equally as important to the job itself. So, what does work/life balance mean to us?
We work hard when we are on duty, but we have time off to play hard too! Flex time is key. Our team is cross-trained, and everyone is willing to cover shifts if something fun or urgent comes up. Our doctors will trade days too so they can have fun, relax, and vacation. Speaking of vacation, we’re less than 4 hours from the beaches of Rocky Point Mexico and 6 hours from San Diego!
Additional benefits include:
- Competitive salary
- Sign-on and relocation assistance available for eligible candidates
- Flexible scheduling and PTO
- Medical, dental, and vision for you and your dependents (with HSA option)
- 401(k)
- CE allowance
- Professional development assistance
- Structured mentorship program for early career veterinarians
- Guidance from a talented DVM Advisory Board
- Medical freedom to practice skills you’re proficient in or explore areas you’d like to learn
- “Pack Gives Back” charity donation or sponsorship to a cause you care about
- Plus more!
Tucson: The soul of the Sonoran Desert. The flavor of the Southwest. Tucson means wide open spaces and plenty of room to unplug, explore, and free yourself.
7 reasons you’ll love Tucson:
- We have great food and are a UNESCO City of Gastronomy—meaning the food here tells a story that dates back 4,000 years! Eating local means honoring history, and each bite is an experience. (Don’t forget to try the Best 23 Miles of Mexican Food)
- Did someone say frozen margarita?! Enjoy a poolside drink at and take a “staycation” at one of the many hotels, bed-and-breakfasts, or guest ranches to escape the city and summer heat.
- Adventure is in our DNA. Whether you’re looking for a backcountry adventure or a leisurely stroll, Tucson has plenty of space to hike, bike, and roam
- Water adventures seem more enchanting in Arizona. In the winter, snow settles on the five mountain ranges that surround Tucson, and when it melts in the spring, water is added back to the desert streams and canyons. Plus, the locally loved monsoon rains bring incredible lightning shows and awaken the plants and animals (and humans) in the summer
- You can go underground! Explore two spectacular limestone caverns at Colossal Cave Mountain Park or check out the man-made cave at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum.
- There are more than 40 golf courses throughout the region, making Tucson a dream for players of all skill levels
- We’re an official World Festival and Event City where strangers and locals come together to enjoy music and other fun events throughout the year
The beauty of the Sonoran Desert is what first pulls many visitors to Tucson, but they're often surprised at how badly they want to stay. Come see for yourself and discover quickly why Tucson is a great place to live and Cimarron Animal Hospital is an even better place to work!
Cimarron Animal Hospital is an east Tucson small animal and exotic practice with a reputation for genuine care, integrity, and a family-oriented environment. Our hospital uses Fear Free techniques and is Certified Cat Friendly, AAHA compliant, clean and odor free (usually), and exceptionally homey.
