Small and exotic animal clinic in the beautiful Northern California foothills seeks full time small animal associate veterinarian to join our fun, hardworking team in a great learning environment. Work 4 days/week and spend 3 days off within an easy 2-4 hour drive to Lake Tahoe, the Pacific Ocean, the San Francisco Bay Area and a number of mountain ranges. Our doctor is an ABVP board certified specialist in Avian Practice and Canine and Feline Practice, and is currently on the board of directors of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. We have 30 minute appointments and no after hour emergencies.
Whispering Pines Pet Clinic is an AAHA-accredited, full-service veterinary hospital dedicated to providing compassionate comprehensive health care for all companion animals including avian and exotic species. We are currently a busy (but not high volume/stress) one doctor practice looking to expand, and we value high quality medicine and client communication over the "corporate clinic" high turnover type of mentality. We perform routine and advanced surgery (using our CO2 laser) on all small animal and exotic species, including orthopedic (bone plates and linear/circular external fixation) and oncologic surgery. We have an extensive in-house laboratory and in-house endoscopy (rigid and flexible), ultrasound and CR digital radiography (regular and dental units), and are open to acquiring new equipment as well. We have the only avian specialist for 100 miles and attract clients from 200+ miles away, and are one of the only clinics in the area that perform orthopedic surgery. We also have a behaviorist on staff; please see our website at www.whisperingpinespc.com for more information.
Benefits include paid vacation and continuing education, health insurance and SIMPLE IRA. Competitive salary is based on production to equal 25-30% of gross. We prefer an experienced veterinarian and/or completion of an internship, but will consider recent graduates. We also prefer training in/knowledge of exotics but will consider canine/feline experience only. We will consider a mentorship type of setup as well with the right applicant. Current vet students with interest should try to set up an externship with us as that will make it easier to determine if we are a good match. We would be ideal for associates who are interested in ABVP specialization as well-- contact us for more information.
Work 8:45am-5pm four days per week (Tuesday-Friday). Expanded hours are a possibility if desired as well. General practice duties; surgery/advanced medicine and exotics based on comfort level. No after hours emergency duties (unless desired)!
