The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Veterinary Teaching Hospital invites applications for a full-time, 12-month appointment, Clinical or Tenure Assistant/Associate Professor in the Zoological Medicine Service within the Companion Animal and Zoological Medicine (CAZAM) section. The service consists of 5 onsite faculty, 2 offsite faculty, 3 onsite house officers (2 ACZM residents and 1 specialty intern), 2 off site house officers (2 ACZM residents), and 3 dedicated technicians. Professional opportunities: The College maintains a full-service 230,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art hospital for farm, companion, and zoological companion animals that supports, engages, and advances the teaching and research activities of the college. In 2009, the College also established the Medical District Veterinary Clinic, which serves as the College’s headquarters for teaching, research, and public engagement initiatives in the Chicago area. In 2020, the College established the Veterinary Medicine South Clinic, where the Zoological Medicine Service shares clinical space with the Primary Care and Urgent Care Services as well as the Wildlife Medical Clinic. The Department of Veterinary Clinical Medicine features modern research and animal care facilities and has recently completed an exciting, large-scale expansion of our surgical corridor, anesthesia suite, emergency services, intensive care unit, and internal medicine areas. The Veterinary Teaching Hospital has made large investments in infrastructure including the installation of 3T magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography (16- and 128-slice), and a state-of-the art linear accelerator.
