The Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County (HSMSC) is a non-profit (501c3), no-kill organization committed to giving abandoned, homeless, and sick/injured/neglected dogs and cats a second chance at life by providing a safe haven until they find loving homes. Through adoption, education, and our low-cost community veterinary clinic, we save lives and enhance the well-being of both animals and people in our community.
Responsibilities:
Deliver exceptional medical care, including examinations, vaccinations, dental procedures, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, and essential diagnostics.
Administer and closely monitor controlled substances.
Maintain and complete patient records.
Supervise and mentor technical support staff.
Champion and support the programs and mission of the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County.
What We Offer:
Competitive compensation ranging from $105,000 to $135,000+ based on experience.
Flexible Monday-Friday schedule (4-day work week option).
4 weeks PTO + 10 paid holidays.

Requirements:
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree.
Active Tennessee license to practice veterinary.
Must possess (or obtain within sixty days of employment) and maintain DEA controlled substances registration to administer, prescribe and dispense controlled substances.
Demonstrated professionalism and strong communication skills.
Proficient decision-making and time-management abilities.

The Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County (HSMSC) is an independent, non-profit, no-kill shelter providing animal intake, medical care, treatment and rehabilitation, adoptions, dog training classes, volunteer opportunities, and a low-cost community clinic for pet owners in need. Our low-cost community clinic focuses on pet owners with low incomes and receiving some form of government assistance. We provide vaccines, spay/neuter surgeries, medical treatments, heartworm treatment, mass removals, and other surgeries and dental procedures through our clinic.
