The position we are offering is a 1-year associate position ideal for a veterinarian seeking to gain experience in equine ambulatory sports medicine. Associate will rotate between working with other clinicians and working up cases on their own. Candidate will be responsible for commitment to continuing education through this position. The goal of this position is to continue to develop clinical skills in diagnosing and treating lameness, rehabilitating injuries, and managing performance in the equine athlete. The caseload is a mix of racehorses and English performance horses mostly in the sport of eventing but also including dressage and hunter/jumpers. Associate will work alongside clinicians in a variety of environments including but not limited to training centers, farms, racetracks, local steeplechases, USEF horse trials and FEI events. Associate will be expected to travel south for the winter show circuit (January - March). Position does include shared emergency coverage with other doctors.
The practice is closely situated to the University of Pennsylvania’s New Bolton Center. Access to MRI, robotic CT, nuclear scintigraphy, PET scan, and other advanced imaging and surgery modalities are often utilized through this resource. Our clinic is situated in the heart of horse country in Chester County, PA. We have a clinic with examination rooms and appropriate surfaces for evaluating lameness in horses. High quality digital radiography and ultrasonography, multiple regenerative therapy options, Class IV laser, FES, shockwave therapy, endoscopy, and gastroscopy are a few of the many diagnostic and treatment modalities that we have available in house.
One of the practice owners also owns and operates an equine rehabilitation center in close proximity to the practice allowing for additional experience utilizing a variety of rehabilitation protocols and equipment.
Ideal candidate will have completed an equine internship or have a year or two of clinical experience in equine practice. Candidate should be a motivated individual with a desire to be a member of a close team who works together to provide excellence in diagnosis and treatment of equine patients and provide high quality service to their owners/trainers. Consideration for a longer-term position as an associate will be offered to candidates at the end of the first year if both parties feel it is a good fit.
