Walkersville Veterinary Clinic is looking for someone with an interest in true mixed animal practice. We are a close-knit, three-doctor practice looking for a motivated individual with a good sense of humor and an appreciation of teamwork. We have been providing service for cats, dogs, horses, cows, and small ruminants for over 50 years and take pride in our well-regarded position in the community. Our doctors have varied experience and professional interests. Enthusiastic new graduates seeking mentorship or experienced practitioners are welcome. Flexible 4-day work week with evenings and weekends on call for large animal emergencies only, shared equally amongst all large animal veterinarians. While we love what we do, we understand the importance of a life outside of veterinary medicine. Your week would consist of one day small animal surgery, 1-2 days small animal appointments, and 1-2 days of large animal appointments. Our large animal caseload comprises approximately 70% equine (ranging from English performance and Western pleasure to backyard donkeys), 20% small ruminant, and 10% bovine (dairy, beef, and backyard). Given our varied clientele and species, you can find the niche that best suits your interests and skills while having plenty of opportunity for growth and development. While we have a strong foundation in primary care, there is opportunity for more advanced work including surgery, imaging diagnostics, lameness, dentistry, reproduction, and internal medicine. We have all the equipment needed to practice at the highest level: electronic medical records, in-house digital radiology and free standing as well as POC ultrasound units, dental radiology, your own fully stocked ambulatory vehicle, portable large animal digital radiology, two mobile ultrasounds, Terafloat power dental unit, and large animal upper airway endoscopy. Our support staff bring an exceptional amount of compassion and light-heartedness so you can truly enjoy coming to work each day. Frederick County is a wonderful place to live and work. Nature lovers will find plenty of opportunities for hiking, kayaking, and riding, while those who enjoy city vibes will love downtown Frederick’s ample dining, shopping, history, culture, and bar scene. Less than an hour’s drive brings you to downtown Washington DC or Baltimore.
Benefits include competitive compensation, health insurance, 2 week PTO and 1 week sick leave, generous CE allowance with time off, all licensing and professional membership fees, retirement plan, and company cell phone.
