Technician roles are posted at all levels 1, 2, and Senior and will be filled based on skills, certifications and experience.
The Veterinary Technician will engage in animal medical care, collection/processing of clinical diagnostic samples and assisting veterinarians with animal wellness examinations. Some responsibilities will include record clinical observations and data in compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), proactively engage with veterinarians regarding care plans for animals, assist attending/staff veterinarian(s) with veterinary examinations, perform initial triage of veterinary patients when an attending/staff veterinarian(s) is not available, and conduct treatments of animals under veterinary care, including calculation of drug doses and administration of drugs via all routes. This is a non-exempt role that is eligible for overtime after 40 hours in a workweek and has no supervisory responsibilities.
A High School/GED required with LVT OR AS/BS in veterinary technology with 1 year experience in veterinary or laboratory animal science required OR 3 years’ experience in veterinary or laboratory animal science required. Having your ALAT/LAT/LATG certification would be preferred and experience with electronic medical records systems preferred. This role works predominately in a laboratory setting. There will be exposure to animal pathogens and chemicals. There will be handling of, and/or exposure to, animal tissues and zoonotic organisms. You must have the ability to don and wear personal protective gear, including N95 masks and respirators. Physical activity includes lifting (up to 50lbs), carrying (up to 40lbs for up to 50 feet), pushing/pulling (up to 75lbs force), reaching, gripping/pinching, standing, and ascending ladders without restriction. Ability to work beyond typical work schedule including, but not limited to, evenings, weekends, extended shifts with short notice.
