Join the 1/ST Horse Care Veterinarian Team as a full-time Association Veterinarian at Santa Anita Park. This is an opportunity to work with association and state regulatory veterinarians to promote horse safety and welfare.
The Association Veterinarian will work with the veterinarian team at Santa Anita Park to ensure equine safety during training hours. The primary responsibility for this position will be to observe horses during morning training hours, with additional opportunities to conduct soundness exams, monitor horses during racing, or observe horses in training at nearby San Luis Rey Training Center.
This is a full-time salaried position. Shifts are available every morning from 4:30 to 10:30 am and include holidays and weekends. Racing shifts are in the afternoon, Friday through Sunday and some Monday holidays.
On-the-job training is provided with ongoing support from the Santa Anita Veterinary Team. Recent graduates are welcome to apply. Learn more about 1/ST Horse Care and Santa Anita Park.
Duties Include:
Observing horses during morning training hours to watch for signs of lameness or incidents
Required sharing of duties during afternoon racing
Conducting soundness examinations as needed, including evaluation of lameness and observation at a jog.
Following veterinarian procedures in accordance with CHRB, 1/ST Horse Care and Santa Anita Park protocols.
Supporting Senior Veterinarian and state veterinarians as needed.
