Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Equine Ambulatory Veterinarian to join our team. Responsibilities will include diagnosing and treating equine health issues, conducting routine check-ups, and offering expert advice to horse owners. This role offers the opportunity to work with a wide variety of equine patients and be a vital part of their well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough examinations, diagnostics, and medical procedures on equine patients.
Diagnose and treat a wide range of equine health conditions, including lameness, colic, respiratory issues, and more.
Administer vaccinations, perform dental care, and provide routine preventive care.
Collaborate with clients to develop and implement customized treatment plans.
Provide emergency veterinary services when required.
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records.
Educate clients on horse health and wellness, offering guidance on nutrition, exercise, and preventative care.

Qualifications:
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)
State license to practice veterinary medicine in CA
Strong passion for equine health and well-being.
Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Internship preferred but not required for the right candidate.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Progressive Equine was established in 1994 and is currently a 2 doctor practice. We are located in beautiful Southern California in Ventura County, just a 30 minute drive from the ocean. We are gifted with almost year round good weather conditions for working outside and practicing ambulatory medicine. We specialize in sports medicine and rehabilitation. We provide well rounded medical care including preventive medicine, diagnostic imaging (ultrasound, radiology), shock wave therapy, laser therapy, gastroscopy and more. Treatment modalities include PRP, Prostride, IRAP, A2M and stem cells. We have state of the art equipment and expertise for continued mentorship.
In addition, Progressive Equine believes in quality of life and a sustainable culture. This means reasonable hours and splitting call time.
With 2 local referral hospitals within 20 minutes and 4 within 2 hours, we are always surrounded by support for cases that need to be referred in for emergencies or further diagnostics.
