Columbia Pike Animal Hospital and Emergency Center is a large, busy, privately owned and operated GP/ER practice located in Annandale, Virginia. We see wellness and sick appointments as well as urgent cares and true emergencies. We have had a successful internship and externship program for 8+ years and love teaching. Our hospital has many diagnostic capabilities including a full in house lab, digital radiography, Ultrasound, CT, digital cytology, and endoscopy. We also perform both routine surgeries (spay, neuter, COHAT, mass removal etc) and urgent surgeries (foreign body, hemoabdomen, GDV etc). We generally have between 3-9 hospitalized patients at any given time. We welcome externs at any point during veterinary school and provide a $250/week travel stipend as well as free housing (when available) for clinical year students. We offer 1-4 week externships and are happy to assist with any school paperwork needed. Along with working in all of our departments, externs also join weekly rounds with our interns as well as any other scheduled educational opportunities (visiting specialists, wet labs etc). For interested students we offer a tour of a local animal rescue and HQHV spay-neuter facility, Wolf Trap Animal Rescue.

About Columbia Pike Animal Hospital and Emergency Center
Columbia Pike Animal Hospital & Emergency Center was founded by Dr. Davis Hall in 1975. Over the past 46 years our hospital has grown from a one doctor practice to a 24 doctor, 24 hour GP and emergency practice with interns. We recently underwent a $1 million building renovation to increase and improve our workspace, and added a Vimago CT scanner to our hospital. We also have a sister hospital in nearby Fairfax, VA with 8 doctors. We are the largest private practice in Northern Virginia and the practice is still owned by Dr. Davis Hall and his son, Dr. Reed Hall. We are a very busy hybrid general and emergency practice seeing an average of 70 cases per day and performing 7 surgeries a day. The Halls’ focus is on providing excellent veterinary care along with the highest standard customer service to our clients. We also focus on teamwork, education, and have a friendly and collaborative work environment. Our company’s core values of service, devotion, communication and collaboration, as well as our mission statement “Because pets are family members, we want to help them live a long, happy and healthy life”, are evident in our daily work.
