Estimated Externship Workload: 40-60 hours/week; Externs will rotate through ambulatory, surgical, internal medicine, and reproductive services during their time at EMCO and will be exposed to after hours emergency management as well.
Goals of the Externship: Provide exposure to ambulatory and specialty equine practice in a busy, progressive hospital located in the heart of Florida's horse country. Our veterinarians, both ambulatory and board certified, provide mentorship to interns and externs as they work together to manage cases. Veterinary students will be exposed to a variety of disciplines, including sport horse, western, Paso Fino, pleasure, and Thoroughbred breeding and racing.
Prerequisites: Preference is given to veterinary students in their 3rd/4th years of veterinary school; however, 1st/2nd years are encouraged to visit when space is available
