Madera Ranchos Equine Clinic offers externships (1-4 weeks duration) to veterinary students.  This is a very busy general practice in central California that sees a large variety of horses (75% in clinic and 25% ranch calls). Spring and summer have a lot of reproductive cases, including breeding mares with transported or frozen semen and foaling. There is ample opportunity for hands on treating injuries and medical cases, lameness, dental and preventive care. The clients are very friendly and accepting of students.
