Loomis Basin Equine Medical Center is looking for an equine surgeon to join our team of California veterinarians. Our primary surgery center is based out of our hospital located near Sacramento, CA with boarded specialists in surgery, internal medicine, critical care, and sports medicine. Our caseload primarily consists of general surgery, emergency surgery, and lameness. Cases come from a wide variety of disciplines. 

Our team has a collaborative approach to surgery and medicine that includes daily rounds and weekly journal clubs. We have a strong emphasis on teaching with 12 house officers including 8 interns and 4 residents. We are a unique and close group of professionals and our culture of working and learning together is central. Many of us have worked together for 15-20 years and we support each other through challenging cases and clients.

Loomis Basin Equine Medical Group consists of approximately 50 doctors working out of 10 different locations with boarded specialists in surgery, medicine, critical care, and sports medicine. The main hospital sits on 28 acres east of Sacramento in the Sierra foothills close to skiing, the American river, and various state and national parks. The other locations include Napa Valley, North Coast, Gilroy, the San Francisco Bay Area, San Luis Obispo and Los Angeles. We are a growing medical group with the main hospital facility housing 80-130 horses depending on the time of year and includes climate controlled ICU stalls, isolation stalls, and various barns, paddocks and pastures. The hospital employs over 40 technicians that help with the ambulatory, surgery, and ICU patients.
